Sarah Polley to Adapt Margaret Atwood Novel

Sarah Polley has come a long way since “Road to Avonlea”. Since then, she has become an acclaimed Writer and Director and recently announced that her next project will be a screen adaptation of the Margaret Atwood novel “Alias Grace”.

Alias Grace” is celebrated Canadian novelist Margaret Atwood ’s historical drama that tells the true story of a double murder that occurred in Upper Canada in 1843. The story focuses on Grace Marks, a 16 year old maid that was convicted and jailed for killing her wealthy boss and his housekeeper. Sarah’s first feature film “Away from Her”, which received rave reviews and earned multiple awards, was an adaptation of “The Bear Came Over the Mountain”, a short story by another Canadian novelist, Alice Munro. Sarah’s latest film “Take this Waltz” starring Seth Rogen and Michelle Williams is set for release on June 29th, 2012.
